Operation of the proposed solution
“I would like Nuclear fusion to become a practical power source. It would provide an inexhaustible supply of energy, without pollution or global warming” (Stephen Hawking). In order to achieve such results, new solutions need to be proposed for the design of future nuclear fusion reactors. Design will include novel solutions for the mechanical design of tokamak components and electrical design of plant electrical system which will deliver electrical energy to all the electrical users of the facility and will recirculate the electrical power generated from nuclear fusion reaction. The connection to the High Voltage network will also allow the electrical power generated to be delivered to the grid, opening the future to a new green era of green, safe, and non-polluting electrical energy.
Challenges
1) Electrical design of the plant electrical system of nuclear fusion facilities and of its major components
2) Thermal and mechanical design of the most critical tokamaks components
3) High-performances Plasma edge modeling and analysis
4) High-performance plasma scenario development
