Keywords

Structural health monitoring (SHM), industry 4.0, low-cost, smart structures, wireless sensor network (WSN), digital twin.

Operation of the proposed solution

This research adopts the fundamental tenets of advanced technologies in industry 4.0 to monitor the structural health of concrete structures using cost-effective non-destructive technologies.

Challenges

  1. Accurate structural health monitoring of concrete structures necessitates expensive equipment, complex signal processing and skilled operator.
  2. The concrete industry needs a simple but reliable technique that can reduce the testing time and cost to improve the maintenance of structures.
  3. The research merges industry 4.0 digital technologies with several multidisciplinary approaches into one integral technological configuration.
