Operation of the proposed solution

Portable instruments (Raman, XRF, EIS, etc.) are employed for assessing and monitoring the conservation state of multi-materic cultural heritage artefacts in indoor and outdoor environments.

Moreover, smart sensors and battery-operated devices are designed and developed for measuring different quantities, such as temperature, relative humidity, gases and atmospheric pollutants, locally and without any cabling, for ensuring the long-lasting preservation of the artefacts and developing tailored conservation strategies.

All measurements and devices are performed and developed satisfying all requirements for their employment in the cultural heritage field.

Challenges

  1. In-situ assessment of the material/environment interaction
  2. Smart sensor for microclimate and pollutants monitoring
